Activision gives refunds as option to faulty Guitar Hero discs

Guitar Hero III Wii

The problem seemed minor and only affected a limited number of discs. In Activision’s new Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for the Wii, users were finding that their music was playing in stereo, rather than the Wii’s Dolby digital surround sound. As such, the music was good, just not virtual. And most who didn’t have a Dolby sound system probably wouldn’t have noticed, but those serious audio/game philes hit the roof and Activision promised prompt replacement discs to correct the error. But it’s taking longer than planned.

Users had to send in their old GH III discs to get their replacement game discs. But the problem is that Activision is taking up to a month to replace them. Which means Guitar wii-nnabes will have to resort to Air Guitar in the interim. This has prompted Activision to resort to offering a refund as an option to those who don’t want to wait and just want to get their money back and go out and buy an inerrant copy.

“We are committed to providing our customers with quality game experiences and apologize for any audio output issues you may have experienced with the Wii version of Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock. Activision has worked with Nintendo to re-master the game and provide a replacement disc to consumers with Dolby digital surround sound and other consumers experiencing audio issues. If you wish to receive a full refund on your purchase price instead of a replacement disc, please click here and download the refund form, which outlines our refund requirements.”

Users who desire a refund are encouraged to head over to Activision’s Website to download a refund request form.
