Guitar Rising goes where Hero pretends to … actually playing a guitar

Guitar Rising

Sure, video game fans and air guitar enthusiasts can live the fantasy with Rock Band or Guitar Hero. But at the end of the day, the axe they shred only has a set of buttons and they are no closer to learning to be the real McCoy. That’s where Guitar Rising will come in.

Based on the same concept of keeping up with the song and hitting the right notes, Guitar Rising doesn’t bother with any five button pseudo guitar interface. It uses the real thing. Just about any guitar with an electrical pickup will work with the software. The design will incorporate a guitar-USB adapter which would plug directly into a PC sound card interface. The way it works is similar to Guitar Hero or Rock Band, only it actually teaches budding players to play the guitar by using competition of scoring to drive the learning process.

Currently in the process of licensing rock anthems for budding Keith Richards to shred upon, Guitar Rising will give users the ability to start out slow and speed up as they proceed to master the song. In addition, there will be various levels with harder and harder songs to master. In the end, gamers will not only be able to pretend the rock god fantasy, they’ll be able to go out and live it too.

Product to be released in late 2008. Meanwhile, here’s a promo video for you to air guitar to …
