Lego Indy whips up 4 player game play
Lego Star Wars is a phenomenally successful series of video games that not only captures the spirit and adventure of the epic sci fi movie saga, but also gives players more fun than violence. And now, they’re taking the same tongue in cheek adventure to the Indiana Jones saga, but adding a four player twist and some wii-style whip action. Cue John Williams theme, please.
Much like the Dex’s Grill and the Cantina serves as the main hub for Lego Star Wars I & II, Lego Indiana Jones will have the site of Indy’s “day job” as professor … Barnett College. There are 18 levels of game play which takes the players through the entire Indiana Jones trilogy (episode IV will probably be for the second version, but I’m hoping they use a young Indy flair based on the TV series) and there will also be free play for those who just want to let it looks and not go through the ongoing story scene by scene. Can you imagine it. A whole bunch of Lego Egyptians rummaging about as Lego Indy is looking for Lego Marion. When, suddenly, a Lego bad guy appears with a giant sword. Lego Indy pulls out his gun and fires scattering the bad guys parts in all directions. That’ll be classic.
But what I don’t get that the game designers over at Traveller’s Tales’ have deliberately left out the Nazi’s (I hate those guys). What’s up with that?! Like the kids don’t know about them from the films? Shouldn’t they learn about one of the most dark periods in world history? To leave them out is like leaving the Empire out of Lego Star Wars. It just doesn’t work and is an obvious tribute to the forces of political correctness.
Still, if Lego Indy is anything like Lego Star Wars, it’ll be a fund game for kids of all ages as you laugh through each scene of one of Americas favorite movie sagas.
Available June 3.
