Star Wars Battleship – two great ideas that work great together
STAR WARS, the science fiction movie and merchandising juggernaut, and Battleship – the classic board game that has gone all high tech. It’s sort of like the electronic version of Reese’s Peanut butter cups – two great ideas that work great together. Only you can’t cry “aw, you sunk my battleship!” But you can yell “I got one! Great kid, now don’t get cocky!”
It’s the same old Battleship, but in the Star Wars universe you have all those cool sound tie fighter and xWing lasers, ion cannons, and even those proton torpedoes launching to destroy the Death Star. Players hide behind the dual folds down screen which is used to map out the location of the hidden Star Destroyers, Tie fighters, X-Wings, and even the Millenium Falcon. A grid is used to chart hit and misses just like in the game.
But what’s really cool is that in addition to being able to play a friend head-to-head, there’s also a mode for solo game play where the player goes against the computer (or is that R2D2?). The game folds down into a laptop-computer-sized component that stores all game pieces internally for easy transportation and storage. Works on three AA batteries (included) and is for fans ages 8 and up.
Wookie sidekick not included.
