Polaroid Pixie

Not long after Polaroid announced they would stop production of instant print film, they have started to take more baby steps into the digital realm with a line of kid friendly “Pixie cameras.”

The cameras come in traditional pink and blue versions. More of a gadget hybrid than a dedicated digital camera, the Pixie sports a 3-megapixel CCD to shoot digital pictures, but what’s really interesting, however, is that it has what looks to be a Playstation style video game controller for onboard games which can also be played via the Pixie’s 2.4” LCD. In addition, to make it even more kid friendly, the viewfinder for the camera is binocular-style to make it easier for young shutter bugs to frame the pictures they wish to take. Downside though, is that even though it comes with a 2x digital zoom, the lens itself is fixed focus.

The camera comes with 16MB on board memory, is SD compatible, and comes with 8 built-in games which include basketball, a memory match, a driving motor race game, Super surfing and track and field. And there’s also a TV out which allows gamers to play the games on a larger screen. The camera is also powered by 2 AAA batteries.
