Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull co-star Shia LaBeouf will be hosting a special screening of a Lego Indiana Jones mini movie on Cartoon Network to help launch the Lego Indiana Jones Adventures game. The four minute mini movie will screen on Saturday, May 10 at 9 p.m. as part of CNs “Toonami” program block. But that’s not all CN will be doing to get gamers ready for the Indy Lego game …
Leading up to the mini movie’s television premiere, Cartoon Network is creating a three-level game experience on their website at CartoonNetwork.com. The online game will launch this week (April 28th) and will feature building levels of difficulty. Gamers will also be able watch part one of the mini film and part two next week at CartoonNetwork.com.
“Following the success of our Star Wars(TM) Revenge of the Brick event, our new four-act feature movie is designed to combine the construction, fun and humor of LEGO bricks and minifigures with Indiana Jones adventures to celebrate another blockbuster LEGO line of construction sets based on an iconic movie property,” said Michael Pratt, senior brand manager, LEGO Systems, Inc.
But I gotta tell you, Lego is kinda cheating with these movies. The movies are animated CGI films that use characters drawn to look like the Lego characters in the game. What would REALLY be impressive is if Lego did had made it like they did with the HAN SOLO AFFAIR … a short film animated with REAL Lego characters. But then again, the video game is CGI, so it sorta makes sense.
The Lego Indiana Jones Adventures game and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull both launch on May 22nd. Lego Indiana Jones toys are in stores now.
