More Toy recalls as of April 2008
Following is a brief list of toy recalls from the Consumer Product Safety Commission:
Western Rider Push Toys: Surface paint on the glove, shirt, and pants of rider toy contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Imaginarium Multi-Sided Activity Centers and Jungle Activity Centers: Small parts on the toys can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Sold at Toys R Us.
MEGA Brands Recalls MagnaMan Magnetic Action Figures; Ingested Magnets Pose Aspiration and Intestinal Hazards: Small magnets inside the figures can detach. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or aspirated. If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract each other and cause intestinal perforations or blockages, which can be fatal.
Cinderella Battery-Powered Toy Cars Recalled by Dumar International USA Due to Fire and Burn Hazards: The wires under the hood of the car and/or in the battery compartment under the seat can short circuit, posing a fire and burn hazard to children riding in the car. The firm and CPSC are aware of 40 incidents of the toy car’s wires overheating.
Remote-Controlled Helicopter Toys Recalled By Soft Air USA Due to Fire and Burn Hazards: The rechargeable battery contained inside the helicopter can catch fire during charging, igniting the helicopter and nearby combustible materials. This poses a burn or fire hazard to consumers. Soft Air USA has received six reports of helicopters igniting, including one minor injury.
Toys “R” Us Recalls Elite Operations Toys Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard: Surface coatings on the toys contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Speed Racer Pull Back & Go Action! Cars Recalled by Dollar Tree Stores Due to Violation of Lead Paint Standard: The recalled toys contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. The Speed Racer Pull Back & Go Action! Cars are yellow with black stripes and white with red stripes. Item number 873820 and date code 77 is printed on the back of the packaging.
