Disney launches Wall*E Wall*Es for all of to enslave … er play with

Wall*E Robot Toy

Creating a real Wall*E robot as a merchandise toy is genius idea and Disney knows it. So when they partner up with Thinkway Toys to create a working robot for under $200, one just has to say … brilliant!

The Wall*E robot toy will have 10 separate motors to create it’s movement, a programmable mode to create custom rolling around the room, remote control for live manipulation, special sensors that will read both sound and physical obstacles and even touch which cause Wall*E to react to it’s environment. All this wouldn’t have been possible even a few years ago, but thanks to advances with robotic toys like RoboSapien, the R2D2 mini droid, and even advances by companies like iRobot, toy robots are not only becoming the norm, they’re becoming a hot commodity just in time for the Christmas season. And Wall*E is a natural for creating a merchandise tie-in to the robot toy market.

But it isn’t the only robot Disney is creating … imagine a Disney character/cylon toy line. Wall*E is the beginning. But Disney has plans for a host of robot toys including a flying Tinkerbell. And will we see a few others from movies like Meet the Robinsons? Maybe a working toy Omnidroid? You can bet that if Disney builds it, they will come. Wall*E will make his debut at the Maker Toy Faire later this month.
