Solar powered toy race cars for treehugging kids
The real downside of today’s basic R/C car is that the charge only lasts about 5 minutes. It’s certainly not the fault of the car, per se, it’s those rechargeable batteries that only hold enough juice for a fleeting R/C experience. If there was only a way to insure a constant flow of energy to the vehicle, an R/C car would last as long as the kid playing with it. Like say, if an toy race car was solar powered?
Okay, it’s not really radio controlled, but there’s plenty of potential in The Uncle Milton Solar Racer Outdoor Racing Set, which uses solar panels instead of batteries to directly convert sunlight into racing power for hours of outdoor play. The Tricycle like car set includes two racers, 5 feet of race track. For kids 6 and up.
Cost is a cool $20 from the Discovery Store.
