Remember the story we did about hotels that are adding Guitar Hero and Rock Band to their lobby and hotel entertainment options? Well, why should the inactive amoungst us have all the fun while on vacation? Westin Hotels has decided to add the WiiSports and WiiFit to their gyms in the hope that their hotel guests will get a fun-filled workout during their stay.
Working in partnership with Nintendo (which means Westin got the gear for nearly nothing in exchange for having it as an exclusive), West has placed WiiFit consoles in the following Westin hotels: Westin Times Square, New York City, Westin Bellevue, WA, Westin Hilton Head, Westin Crown Center, Kansas City, Westin Harbor Castle, Toronto, Westin Diplomat, Hollywood, Westin St. Francis, San Francisco, Westin St. Louis, Westin Galleria, Houston, Westin Savannah Harbor.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when I visit a hotel that happens to have a gym, the vast majority of them look like pristine and anticeptic ghost towns with the exception of that die hard fitness geek who travels to … work out! But Nintendo’s WiiFit may change all that as the Wii is downright fun and there’s some spotty evidence to suggest that people can get in shape using it. And considering most people put on a few pounds eating out while on vacation, why not have some video workout time while you’re at it?
But the question is, with everyone in the gym playing WiiSports tennis, will the real tennis courts end up being the ghost towns?
