This radio controlled 9-inch “space surfer” hovers in the air, spins 360 degrees and moves left, right, backwards and forwards. And it looks like it’s catching a wave, even though it’s hovering in mid air.
From Hammacher:
“Capable of indoor and outdoor flight, the space surfer has dual propellers for balance and can generate anough thrist to send the device from a stationary position to 66-feet in the air without requiring a hand launch. The radio frequency remote control has propertional throttle and trim settings that allow it to be precisely controlled through climbs, descents and turns. The device is powered by a rechargable battery and AC adapter. Remote has a 27 foot range and requires a 9-volt battery. Operates for 15 minutes after a 70-minute charge.”
This hovering surfboard kinda reminds me of the hoverboard that Michael J. Fox used in Back to the Future II. Wouldn’t it be cool if the technolgy existed to hold up a 150 pound teen while flying through the air like this? unfortunately, we’re not there yet. Meanwhile, the Space Surfer is scheduled to ship sometime next week and is for ages 6 and older. It sells for about $90 US.
