Not long ago, we reported on the leak of the 2009 Lego line-up. Well, it’s now official and there’s a lot of familiar territory in this line-up of Lego toys, but this year we can expect to see a new face in Lego Power Miners. Power Miners is a collection of a team of miners that dig into the Earth’s crust and encounter beings that are half-rock/half-crystal and looks to be very cool and imaginative. The Power Miners collection features vehicles, mini-figures and monsters. And there’s more …
Other toys in the Lego 09 line-up includes more Bionicles, including a new theme called “ Glatorian,” (does anyone really understand Bionicle?) and will include six new ‘tribes’ based on different earth elements (fire, water, ice, rock, jungle and earth) as well as a social element with a shootout action game. In addition, in January, the Bionicle line will include six smaller Bionicle figures.
In the Star Wars Lego line, we can expect more cool scenes and vehicles based on the blockbuster movie series and will include the Republic Attack Shuttle, Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter and Clone Walker Battle Pack. The Lego Indiana Jones series will launch two new scenes based on scenes from the classic trilogy … Fight on the Flying Wing (from Raiders of the Lost Arc) and Shanghai Chase (from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom).
Other Lego sets coming with new toys and figures include the Lego Racers with racetracks and four new themes including Formula 1, Stock Car, Rally and Desert racing. As well as the Power Racers line which will add these cool new pullback cars sets: Ferrari Victory, Monster Jumper, Extreme Wheelie, Blue Sprinter and Race Rig. Finally, Lego will release new sets to the “Lego City Power” line that will include a bulldozer, Construction Site set, Front-End Loader and Dump Truck, while “Lego City Farm” includes a Tractor, 4WD with Horse Trailer, Combine Harvester and top of the range Farm set.
All new sets will be launching January, which is puzzling considering they will be missing the lucrative Holiday season.
