Continuing on with our series on Toys R Us Best Bets for hot toys this holiday season, we continue up to year two to see what toddler’s will be playing with come Christmas morning. And first up is this fun 50′s Diner from Step 2. – No doubt this playset will remind parents more of Arnold’s from the TV show “Happy Days” than the actual 50′s, but it still looks way too much fun. The 50s Diner from Step 2 is part kitchen, part greasy spoon booth – complete with bench seating, table, and even a Rockola style juke box that plays three 50s style tunes.
On the Kitchen side, there’s an oven, grill, fryer, icebox for storage, and sink for cleaning the dishes. And what’s really cool is that kids can activate the griddle and coffee pot for some realistic sound effects. Accessories include coffee pot, griddle pan, fishes, silverware, cups, spatula, ice cream scoop, sundae dishes, deep fryer, ketchup & mustard bottles, play food like fries, hot dogs, ice cream, cones, and even apple pie.
Cost is around $140.
Crayola Beginnings Scribble & Sing Art Station – This bright and shiny art station teaches toddlers colors by giving them a personality. Each of the four egg-shaped characters, known as “Tadoodles,” represent a specific color and come to life when they are placed into the yellow center circle. Lights come on, sounds beep, and the characters suggest a fun creative activity for your toddler to dive into. Kids can then use the Tadoodle to draw with as they contain washable First Marks™ Markers that never dry out. Includes 1 Art Station, 5 Nontoxic Washable First Marks Markers, 1 Giant Activity Sheet. Requires 3x AA batteries.
Nick Jr. Wonder Pets – Ming-Ming Fisher-Price – Based on the popular Nick Jr. TV Series of the same name, this particular Hero is named Ming Ming and she’s coming to the Rescue of an animal friend with her train. Features a pull and release motor, so you can watch her bumble around. Cost is about $10.
Sesame Street Elmo Live! By Fisher-Price – and what Holiday season would be complete with out the plucky red toddler from Sesame Street named Elmo! Only this time, you see him like you never has before as Elmo becomes interactive and alive. He speaks, he waves his arms, sits, stands, even crosses his legs while he tellss you a story and sings to you. He’ll also play games. Kids can activate him with tickle, of course.
