The Big Wheel came out the year after I officially became too big to enjoy it, and as such, I have had to live vicariously through younger friends growing up, and my son who got his first Big Wheel (a Hot Wheels variant) at age 3. Made completely of blown plastic, the Big Wheel was the low to the ground, stylish tricycle that just screamed speed in comparison to the traditional trike. And a few years later, it came out with a hand brake which made for some seriously fun braking spins. And it’s three peg adjustable seat meant it could grow with it’s little speed demon.
The Big Wheel is celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year and can claim the honor of being the number 1 best selling ride-on toy of all time. And as such, it’s been enshrined in a rather gigantic fashion with a Land of the Giants version at the Disney Pop Century Resort near Disney World.
And for a limited time, Big Wheel fans can get a classic looking Big Wheel in it’s original colors.
Cost is about $80 at Amazon. Ages 3 to 8 years. Weight limit 70 lbs.

are you sure you can get the original marx big wheel at amazon.com?
This same “classic” big wheel is available at Target for $35. While it is not exactly the same as the old one, the functionality is close as well as the overall look. My kids love it!
The front wheel on my grandson’s big wheel is worn out. How can I get a new one?
Probably cheaper to just buy a new one. But thanks for reading!
