Yookidoo

Parenting’s list of the top 25 best toys for 2008 is now out and broken down according to ages. The list is very diverse and offers some interesting choices for parents looking for constructive toys to give their kids this holiday season.
For rugrats, parents can look for the Yookidoo Discovery Playhouse. More like a easy up than playhouse, the Yookidoo offers numerous activities to stimulate the interest of toddlers up to a year and a half: shape sorting, spinning beads, and peekaboo games. And it’s decorated to look more like a fun monster than house. But at around $100, it’s a tad overpriced, I think.

einpiano

Also in that age category is the Baby Einstein Count and Compose Piano. Comes with three play modes; instrument key mode (face it though, it’s “banging mode,” baby composer mode, counting mode. Baby gets an introduction to numbers 1-5 in English, Spanish, and French as each numbered piano key is pressed. It also doubles as several different musical instruments. Course, nobody thinks a child, age 1, will compose a great symphony, but with a cost of $15.00, it’s a great way to introduce babies to music.

Toddlers up to age 3, can begin a longtime love affair with two wheels thanks to the Ducati Monster, a foot powered motorcycle with side training wheels and realistic motorcycle sounds. Cost is about $85.00

clippo

Parenting also likes that Diner playset we talked about here, but what I noticed was an interesting set called the Playskool Clipo Creativity Table. The table helps youngsters develop their motor skills through building with bright, chunky connecting pieces upon spinning platforms. Includes table base, 2 storage buckets, 2 peg plates, 2 lids, motorized gear unit and 25 CLIPO pieces. $30.00

There are plenty more and we’ll highlight some over the next few days, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, check out the list here.

TickleMe Plant – It moves!
I was in tears when I found the plant that MOVES when you TICKLE It.
I remember my Grandma showing me this plant when I was about 10.
To see the leaves fold up and to watch the branches move was magical.
I googled and found the TickleMe Plant website and others that sell it.
I ordered a bunch of the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse and their lower cost
Mini-House/Party favors will make great stocking stuffers. Every parent should grow this interactive plant with their kids. They seem to make it easy to grow year round indoors and have a great guarantee. I love this plant!
