Inline scooter maker Razor has announced a product recall on their PowerWing Three-Wheeled Scooters. According to the recall, the underside of the foot platform may have sharp edges, which can cause a potential laceration of legs and feet to kids riding the scooter. Since it was introduced to the market, four children have suffered severe lacerations to the Achilles tendon or ankle area which prompted the recall, but there have been other injuries as well.
The recall affect over 103,000 Razor scooters on the market, specifically models with serial numbers beginning with Y708, Y709, Y710, Y711, Y712, and Y801, Y802, Y803, Y804, Y805, Y806, Y807, Y808. Date of manufactuer of the affected scooters was from October 2007 through September 2008.
If parents find that they are the owner of one of the affected models, they should immediately take the scooter away from their children and contact Razor USA, LLC for free, redesigned replacement foot platforms.
