It isn’t enough for the Mouse House bring us the likes of Hillary Duff, the split personality of Hannah Montanna/Mylie Cyrus, the juggernaut known as the Jonas Brothers or the teeth of Debbie Lavatto, now they want to create a whole new home grown rock God farm system with Disney Star Guitarist. I know, you’re saying … HUH? What the heck is Star Guitarist? Well, think of it as Guitar Hero, only you play a REAL guitar. Here’s how it works …
Not settling with just running up point scores by pressing three colored buttons on a fret board, Disney Star guitarist actually teaches players to play the complete song with chords by displaying Guitar Hero-style colored dotes on the actual frets and strings in order to play them. The result is not only playing a video game, but the by product is that kids will actually learn to play a musical instrument. And here’s the best part, players can either play the ¾ scale Disney Marshburn Guitar, or, they can install special strings onto their own guitar in order for the game to pick up the information.
This represents a quantum leap for what some call the “holy grail” of rock games. Latency of the note sounds was what largely stood in the way, but thanks to a partnership with US Musicorps, who owns the patent to digital guitar interfaces, latency issues have been overcome.
And with news coming out that Guitar Hero and Rock Band have actually increased guitar sales by over a quarter, this next logical step spells good news for the music biz.
Disney Star Guitarist is slated to come out later this summer for $200 (PC only).
