I remember these. They were video games before video games. You’d plop a quarter in and get 2 innings of ball bearing baseball fun. It ain’t MLB 2009, but it sure brings back memories.
“Ballpark Classics brings together everything you love about baseball into a beautiful tabletop game everyone can enjoy. Whether you are a lifelong fan or just looking for a new spin on game night, Ballpark Classics delivers the fun, excitement, and atmosphere of real baseball right at home. The vintage charm and unique configuration of baseball parks are recognized around the world.”
The launch tube lobs a large ball bearing your way and with the pinball like slippers, you strike to hit it out of the park. Although, admittedly, there’s no whistles or bells, not flashing lights or sound effects, so cheering crowd effects. Just pitch, hit, and score.
I dunno. It’s got nostalgia for those of us who remember a time before video games, computer games and CGI. But for $329? I think I’d much rather toss a $79 video game in my Wii and at least have the virtual experience to hitting the ball. And besides, at least that way, the ball bearing won’t fly out the board and through the window.
