The Eaglider is a great intro into skateboarding

I always wondered is someone would come up with a way to put training wheels on skateboards, because God only knows I’ve always needed them. Without which, I’d probably kill myself on those banana shaped wheels of doom. And while the Eaglider isn’t really a skateboard with training wheels, per se, it’s easy to see how getting good on it would prepare a kids for getting good on the other. I think it would also help ski bums train in the off season.

Here’s how it works. The Eaglider has two footboards laid out side by side. Riders use a stair stepping movement, much like on a step trainer to power the Eaglider. The more steps, the farther you go. To stop, just stop stepping. It’s that simple. But once you get into a rhythym, the movement is a lot unlike the same movement downhill skiers use to carve turns in the snow, well, at least enough of one to make the Eaglider ideal for keeping a skiers legs in shape during the summer months.

Cost is about $150.00 USD over in the UK.
