Once kids begin to grow out of Lego’s, they become interested in more challenging aspects – if they’re scientifically inclined that is. And with the blockbuster Transformer films creating even more interest in beings of a robotic nature, kids are sure to want to learn how they tick. Mindstorms is one way to get them interested, but they can be rather advanced if your kids are under 10. is a great entry level kit which helps kids take their first baby steps in the world of robotics.

There are several kits, ranging from $30 – 65, and have a variety of abilities from taking off away from sounds to more advanced behavior of avoiding obstacles and following a trail of lines. The iBotz line includes: ANTOID, HYDRAZOID, INSULTABOTZ, LINEBOTZ, LINETRACKER1, MONKEYBOTZ, PICOBOTZ, QUADRABOTZ, SOUNDTRACKER, SPYLISTENER,
TRIBOTZ, and WONDERBALL.

And the best part is that parts are interchangeable, meaning that kids can create their own unique robotic creations.
