With price cuts and models being discontinued, speculation is rife that Sony will announce a PS3 slim later this month at Gamescon
Rumors are abounding that Sony is working on a slim version of the PlayStation 3. Engadget has the story that after August 8th, the 80 GB Playstation 3 will be discontinued and the 160GB PS 3 bundled with a Dual Shock wireless controller will have a $50 price cut. This may cll be a precursor to Sony releasing a PS 3 Slim later this month.
Speculation is that there won’t be much of a difference, other than size, between the current PS3 and the Slim variant. No new specifications or features.
Although the best selling Blu-ray player on the market, as a gaming console, users seem content to keep what they already have. And so, the question is, with the Sony PS2 still outselling the PS3 game console, is this an attempt to finally break the old console’s grip?
We’ll soon see when Sony makes a huge announcement at the Gamescom Expo in Cologne, Germany later this month.
