This CSI Fingerprint Kit contains asbestos and has been recalled.

As part of a proposed settlement, Viacom CBS will be required to recall a fingerprint kit based on the hit CBS television series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

In response to a lawsuit brought about by consumer activist group Public Justice and the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, CBS has responded by admitting that the fingerprint powder contains a substance known as “tremolite, ” one of the most deadly forms of asbestos. This toxic tremolite powder is known to cause lung cancer.

As part of the settlement, CBS will provide cash refunds to consumers and the recall is nationwide.
Parents are urged to get this product, and any CSI toy kit that contains the tremolite powder, away from children immediately and contact CBS by going to the website www.csitoysettlement.com for a recall form.

Claims will be accepted until January 14, 2010.
