Environmentally sensitive parents, who want to give their children green toys to play with, may want to consider this Solar Powered Bamboo Dollhouse for their daughters. An adjustable solar panel, installed on the roof (how SoCal of them) actually works to collect energy from the ambient light in the room to power five small LED lights – 3 for the so called “media room” and one in each of the lower floors rooms. Seems pretty cool, right? Hang on.
All total, the Dollhouse has nine rooms and includes a spiral staircase that runs up to the second floor. The all natural bamboo framing has been treated with a water based stain and polished with beeswax to add to the green nature of the toy.
The house is stylishly furnished with beds, sofas, bookshelves, and a dining room, as well as other accoutrements like pillows, rugs and even children’s toys (yep, toys inside toys). But what is interesting is that the so-called solar powered dollhouse comes with four AAA rechargeable batteries which leads this reporter to believe that the solar panels are merely for show and not function.
Too bad, you’d think for $500 they’ve created the real McCoy.
