Sony announces motion controlling capability for the PS3 - coming this Spring

With news of 3D gaming being opened up in the near future, and seeing the platform dominance that Nintendo’s Wii has achieved thanks to it’s motion control capability, Sony has decided it’s high time to jump into the motion market with future upgrades to the PS3.

Shipping next year as a hardware accessory, the new PS3 Motion Controller will work in concert with its PlayStation Eye camera. The Eye will read and track a user’s face and body motion and pick up motion sensor data in three axes from a built in gyroscope and accelerometer.
The coordinated use of the Playstation Eye means ultimate accuracy and precision, which not only allows for greater accuracy in first person shooter games, but could expand the PS3 beyond it’s gaming platform.
