Star Wars Starship Miniatures, cool toys but selling at random makes building your fleet difficult.

When I was in college, Dungeons and Dragons was all the rage. And not just by imagining the conflict and rolling dice, but also miniature led figures which we painted and made ultra realistic. It really took the game to the next level. And I still have those miniatures to this day. So when Star Wars Miniatures began to come out, I thought how cool, two of my favorite tastes that taste great together!

No, I’m not talking about eating the miniatures, I’m talking about the coolness of being able to relive the Star Wars saga by roll playing. Star Wars Miniatures gives you that ability. There are a wide variety of character figurines from Jedi to Sith Lords to Rancors, and of course, Stormtroopers. But now there’s the real cool Star Wars Battles Booster Pack which contains 7 starship miniatures. Each pack contains a random assortment from over 60 different starships made out of plastic now, not led (we didn’t know how bad led was back then), Additionally, there’s full color game stat cards which show how much damage each ship can both dish out and take, as well as any special abilities (like making the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs).

But users will have to use the force in order to build their fleets or round out their collections as LucasArts sells Star Wars miniatures with the random element – meaning you don’t know what you have until you open the box. You could end up with several of the same miniature which makes collecting the ones you want quite problematic. And at $17.00 a pack, it can add up pretty fast.

Still, they’re a gas to play with.
