Slot cars get portable

Slot car race kit is portable and doesn't need any electricity to run!

Long before ultra realistic driving games, kids (and adults, who are we kidding) got their need for speed by running slot car sets. These were racers – much like the Disneyland Autopia ride – which ran around an electrical powered track at break neck speeds. Oh sure, that sounds ho-hum now, but with Race in a Case, the slot car set may make a comeback. Why, you ask? Well, how about you can run a slot car race no matter where you are. Built into a foldable and flashy valise, the slot car track is based on the Formula One race tracks first made popular in Europe. BUt that’s not the cool part. The cool part is, Race in a Case requires no batteries and no electrical outlet to plug into, just good old fashioned elbow grease. Here’s how it works ….

The entire set fits into a briefcase size case less than two feet wide.

After racers place one of the two 1:59 scale race cars (one red, one blue) on the track, they take the hand controller and start cranking the hand crank. The crank generates electricity to make the car go. The faster you crank, the faster the car zips around the track.

The faster you crank, the faster it goes. (what's up with the black nail polish?)

With banked turns, lap counters, and some cool scenery, you’d think there’s no way you can fit this slot car track into a briefcase size container. But it only takes up about 18 inches square of space.

And for $60, that’s a heck of a lot of action to take with you anywhere.

Thanks, Deb
