EA Sports is getting kids outdoors and away from the game machine.
Maybe it’s because kids are getting lazier (and larger), or maybe it’s because they’re going after the more active segment of their target audience, but EA Sports – makers of such sports video games as Madden NFL, NBA Live and Tiger Wood video games – is going back out to the yard with game maker Toy Island to encourage kids to actually play REAL sports with the EA Sports Pitching Machine and Sure Shot Basketball.
EA Sports pitching machine tosses three different pitches.
The EA Sports Pitching Machine ($70) comes with a bat and six balls and kids can choose between batting and fielding modes. For batting, the Pitching Machine can randomly throw three different pitches –fastball, change up and sinker (too bad it can’t work a curve ball, but even pitchers have trouble throwing that one) while the fielding mode gives kids practice catching grounders, line drives, and simple pop flys.
Sure Shot Basketball comes with challenges to improve a player's game.
Meanwhile, Sure Shot Basketball ($70) is a collapsible basketball backboard and hoop that hangs on the back of a door and comes complete with interactive instructional training tools help kids improve their game. There’s also a lightbox which points out spots for player to shoot at and changes as the player scores from each challenge.
Thre are also sports games for soccer, hockey, and even football challenges as well and are for ages 3 and up.
