Great for sport or transportation, Chariot Skates may be the next coolest thing.

We’ve reported on numerous cool alternatives to skates in the past, but not so “wheelish” as the Chariot Skates. The idea behind them is basically to strap on bicycle wheels to your feel and go for a ride. And boy, they look really cool.

Chariot Skates are made with carbon fiber wheels, making them very stylish, durable and high tech. They’re also quite light at about 6 pounds a side. Each wheel has a footpad which is built into just below the axel. This gives a similar, but rather unique inline skating experience that also simulates techniques also used in skiing.
And for added stability and maneuverability, the Chariot wheels have a built on smaller wheel. And it’s got the added benefit of being able to ride over rough terrain like grassy slopes and parks. This may mean that city dwellers who enjoy alpine sports can also train in the off season with the glide provided by these large wheels.
And those wishing to be more green in their transportation options to work can easily use Chariot Wheels to commute and get extra exercise to stay fit.

Unfortunately, Chariot Skates aren’t available on the market, just yet as they are currently finalizing design and manufacturing. But it has already won the People’s Choice Award of ABC’s New Inventor’s Program in Australia.
