With Sesame Street's new ten year deal with Hasbro, Elmo is laughing all the way to the bank.

The Popular children’s television show Sesame Street, a fixture on Public Broadcasting for over 40 years, is packing up and moving. No, don’t worry it isn’t leaving PBS, but it is leaving Mattel toys in favor of a lucrative deal with rival toy maker Hasbro that lasts 10 years.

The deal covers all Sesame Street Toys including the ever popular Tickle Me Elmo Toy, although Hasbro is mum if it will continue making the toy which always seems to make the top ten toy lists for the holidays.

The deal, lasting ten years and beginning in 2011, is expected to yield over $10 BILLION in toys sales annually. And even though it owes it’s tremendous popularity to the taxpayers who underwrite their broadcasting nationwide and all over the world, how much will Children’s Workshop repay us?

Not. One. Dime.

But come on, they’re still cute, and you know you’re getting your toddler an Elmo toy for Christmas. Just understand going in where the money is going.
