Lego Hero Factory will replace the confusion Bionicle line this summer.
Lego is making plans to replace the woefully confusing BIONICLE toy line with a new robotic line which looks pretty much on it’s face like Bionicle but with the name LEGO HERO FACTORY. It only makes sense. Kids like the Bionicle Lego Line itself, but the storyline was so convoluted and confusing, one needed a program to even understand who was who and why they were who they were. It really made no sense. Hero Factory is very simple. It’s a robot hero built to save the universe.
Each Hero is designed, equipped and built for special missions that take place all over the galaxy and through time. The Hero’s travel through time and space in their hero pods to reach their mission destination and to battle evil robots who get in the way. Check out the video here:
There is a wide variety of missions and hero’s to keep things interesting. Each comes armed with custom weapons and tools , and prices range around $8.00 for each hero. Available come August, 2010.

MY POINT IS, Bionicle had a complex story for the intelligent people and Hero Factory looks like it can be awesome.

I sort of agree with ChaosLord. Bionicle started out very simple, six Toa who washed up on an island with no memories, that now must find the Masks of Power to save said island from the evil Makuta. As the audience got older, the story matured into Makuta being a species led by Makuta Teridax, and the whole universe (t least of the Matoran) being inside the body of Mata Nui, which Teridax controls. Granted, it was difficult for me to make the transition from The Makuta to Makuta Teridax, but I got it eventually. Hero Factory won’t be any different. Starts as a bunch of robot heroes built to save the universe, it’ll end with these heroes being infused with some kind of power that they must use to save not only the universe, but also the multiverse. It’s basically Bionicle recycled into something that’s only good for the sets.
My Final Decision
Bionicle: Good for story and sets.
Hero Factory: Good for sets.
Whatever’s Next: Good for story
After THAT: Not good at all.

The fact that most young customers found the bionicle storyline confusing shows how good a series it is. It can appeal to a wider audience. The younger fans like it for the badass figures and the older fans like it for the deep and complex storyline. There’s no reason to tarnish it.

well,bionicle was really awesome and stuff,i am angry bout the hero factory thing, i mean say it “hero factory” doesnt that sound stupid? im predicting that the hero factory sets will be good but storyline not so good.i dont really care wat the storyline is,i just make my own sets and storylines,right now i made a super titan warrior guy. so you shouldnt always HAVE to be so mad,cuz the newer the sets are,the cooler,thats wat lego is about:creation. and its pretty fun making up your own storlines and lego sets.

This is so stupid. They are replacing bionicle with bionicle look alikes! These figures look like Mega-Blocks could have made them. I personally think that no one can replace bionicle. Through the years of my childhood, as I grew, the story grew. These ‘Hero Factory’ people, look like they are not going to have a storyline. This is how the ‘story’ will go:
Red: Let’s go beat the bad guy!
Blue: Yeah!
(Bad Guy):Oh no! I’m defeated!

i liked bionicle for it’s storyline and it’s cool sets.
i like the look of hero factory because it may have good MOCing parts.
but the names for the hero factory characters, kinda pathetic.
The Bionicle storyline is not confusing, It’s mysterious. It keeps you thinking and it never ends! Thats what i like about it. The “hero Factory” Is something that more kids will grow out of as they grow up! The Bionicle theme gets more and more appealing to the general public and more and more true in real life! “hero factory” sounds like it’s a stupid superman workshop place. Bionicle sounds like living mechanics, exactly what it is! Plus hero factory is a rip off of the Bionicle toys(and a complete failure already might I add), Bionicle was part of something larger, technic, that dated back to the early nineties. The Bionicle pieces started out very original with a few trademarked technic pieces. hero factory will be old Bionicle pieces with hero factory add ons. also, who has the name Gali or Tahu? NOBODY! who has the name william? Coldplay’s drummer. overall Bionicle was a large portion of the lego industry, being the most popular product page for three years strait! and what is lego doing now? putting up five new lego themes to distract the Bionicle users to make the transition to “hero factory” smoother! that is an outrage to me that sends me on a writing riot!!!! If anyone agrees with me I will check every month to see who else is on my side.
Don’t buy “hero factory”. buy out Bionicle.

Bionicle have a great story, and great figures, and I think hero factory will have that as well. and people should really stop whining about the whole thing. Bionicle had a good run and lasted longer than its predecessor and hopefully it’s successor will last even longer.

i have a feeling that in the future,lego will only be for kids under 8 because in the old days,lego had all these cool starwars sets,now look at lego,theyre doing toy story,space police,ben 10,(and in the lego comics i get every two months theres a starwars comic,and its so childish it makes me wanna rip the whole magazine)and now hero factory,this is just sad.
the sets a probably going to be cool but the story line is going to be crap if lego is trying to appeal to the younger kids make them some new story line , but for the people that have been buying bionicle for years keep the story line going.

the bionicle storyline was a little confusing,but it wasnt that confusingif you knew a little bit about the bionicle past original.hero factory is a new generation of heros,you cant just judge the lego company if you dont really know wat the storyline is,shaylernuva might be right about the lego campany making little kid crap,but they might make the storyline a little mature for us too.
I took the time to diligently research the Bionicle storyline so I could create my own stories to intertwine with and extend upon the canon. The fact is, the official Bionicle stories were often convoluted and confusing. Even just the way the first three (out-of-order) movies fit together took a bit to get used to, and the opening scene to the 4th movie is simply factually wrong based on the established canon.
Regardless, Bionicle has been a lot of fun and a great success for Lego and fans worldwide, though its heyday is long gone. I think Hero Factory is a good thing for Lego and for Bionicle fans as well. It introduce many new pieces for MOCers, and it allows us to continue using nearly all of our collected pieces.
More importantly, the premise of Hero Factory seems to be starting with an intentional effort to promote creativity — something Bionicle never did. The Bionicle story grew over time, but the canon was rigid, and the characters were very specific. If you MOC’d with the wrong mask for even a character that was never produced, you’d get absolutely torn apart by the community for not conforming sufficiently. With Hero Factory, kids (of all ages, but mostly importantly the young ones) will be not only free, but encouraged to create their own new characters from scratch, with as little care & respect for the canon as they wish.
For hardcore enthusiasts of ANYthing, it is hard to see what you enjoy get tossed out, whether it be a series of toys, or a long-running TV show. I think to damn Lego’s Bionicle replacement series before it’s even started is a mistake. I’m looking forward to ramping down my Bionicle work and have already started Hero Factory MOC’ing, which I hope to continue for years to come.

I’m not sure what exactly hero factory is going to be like, but I want to look into it a bit more. Nothing can replace bionicle. They should just make hero AND keep bionicle going. Some people will just have to deal with the bionicle storyline. Why else would bionicle have a comic BOOK while the rest got a page or two. When hero factory comes, I’ll play with them a bit then put them into a creation. Hero factory may come, but let the story of bionicle continue!

I feel that ending BIONICLE was a horrible idea, too. And I’m going to miss the sets, but this new ‘Hero Factory’ thing has cool parts, and maybe the storyline will go from simple to complex.
Also, they could somehow link this with (the cool) BIONICLE storyline.
