Wii Rifle Remotes take the next step in making the FPS experience more realistic.
At CES last week, some serious firepower was brought out for playing first person shooters. With the ever increasing popularity of games like Modern Warfare 2 and others, and the amazing flexibility of the Wii wireless controller, more video game hardware manufacturers are in an arms race for making accessories to make the first person shooter experience far more realistic.
The rifles, made by CTA Digital and based on assault and sniper rifles used by real world military in real world conflicts, have slide in space for the WiiMote and Wii Motion Plus attachments. The sniper rifle scopes are only meant for show and have to accuracy to them, but they also lend to believability of the experience. There’s also a PS3 version which will come with built in joystick, DPad buttons as well (sorry, Xbox fans).

The PS3 version probably won’t be out until later this year, but Amazon is currently taking preorders for the Wii variant at around $40, with a ship date of late January. Man, couple this with the 3rd Space gaming vest and gamers may actually end up qualifying for a virtual purple heart when hit!
