Barbie has two new careers ....
A computer engineer! The votes are in and according to Mattel, Barbie fans want their favorite doll to become a geek with a career in computer engineering.
Decided by an online vote at Mattel.com, as well as survey’s via Facebook and Twitter, the new Barbie will dive into her 125th career with square glasses and a wardrobe straight out of Old Navy with a binary code patterened T shirt, and all the latest gadgets including Bluetooth headset, laptop and smartphone.
Mattel worked closely with the Society of Women Engineers to develop Barbie’s new look and accessories, to create a “geek chic” look. And one that the SWE is quite happy with:
“As a computer engineer, Barbie will show girls that women can turn their ideas into realities that have a direct and positive impact on people’s everyday lives in this exciting and rewarding career,”says Nora Lin, President, Society of Women Engineers.
