Remember these? Water rockets that you half fill with water and then pump up with air through the clamped pump. And then release it and it soars to 100 feet? It has been an awesome summer toy that teaches kids about velocity and pressure for at least 40 years that I know of. Here’s how it works:

Taking advantage of Pascal’s Law of pressure, as the air is compressed, it creates a lot of pressure that in turn will forces the water out of the bottom nozzle, the rocket then shoots up to 100 feet in the air, making it quite easy to retrieve and try again. And the best part is, with no combustible fuel, it’s perfectly safe for young rocket scientists to use.

And when you’re ready to graduate to more serious rocketry, you already know some of the basics. And for $6 US at Amazon, who can complain about its value?

Set comes complete with 8″ rocket, air pump and fuel feeder. Adult supervision is recommended.
