Using raised Braille bumps, this Rubik Cube is ideal for blind kids to solve.

When looking around for the latest cool toys to play with, it’s quite easy to forget that most blind kids don’t have enough toys to spark their imagination. And even those that they do have … are they even effective?

For instance, a blind child can’t really play with a Rubik Cube. Or can they? Thanks to Konstantin Datz, a genius at Yanko Design, there’s hope of a braille embedded Rubik Cube that will help those kids enjoy the challenge as well.

The idea is a spark of inspiration. Take those tiny, colored stickers that appear on every sector of the cube and place the tiny bumps of braille words on them. This way a visually challenged child can keep track of where the colors are as they seek to use their genius to align the cube. Everything else about the cub would be the same (although the picture in the example is all one color), meaning that sighted kids can also play with it, and perhaps learn the braille language in the process.

Here’s hoping braille versions of more popular toys catch on. FTW I say!
