There’s a cool modification on Instructables for customizing a wireless guitar hero controllers for little players. The user, wanted to give his two year old toddler the ability to play Beatles Rock Band, but couldn’t because she was too small to reach the buttons and the strap simply wouldn’t adjust high enough to make it comfortable to hold. The result, was Ukelele Hero, a smaller version of the wireless controller that lets little ones enjoy the rock god experience.

And what’s cool about it, is that knowing that there are other parents who’s little kids want to play, he made an step by step instructable so others can enjoy the mod as well. But make no mistake. This involves cutting, soldering, putting back together, and there’s bound to me mistakes along the way. As for the strap, he merely put a knot into it so that older, larger folks can play as well.

Side by side comparison of Ukelele Hero and it's larger cousin.

But if you’re a “maker,” Ukelele Hero can help get your kids involved in music while they’re still learning motor skills.

As the old saying goes, you got to get them young.

Fist of rock ensues.
