Using Augmented Reality, customers can see the finished Lego product in their hands.

As if kids needed any other reason to harass their parents into taking them to the Lego store, now they have to deal with the Digital Box, Lego’s Augmented Reality kiosk which allows uses this new virtual technique to show kids what their toys will look like after they build them.

Yeah, sure they can look at the picture on the box, but where’s the fun in that? With Augmented Reality, kids can see themselves holding the finished product. That is almost like having done it and gets them to imagine and want even more. It really is a stroke of genius. And the AR interface not only shows the finished product, but also animates it to bring it to life for the holder.

In addition to the cool animation, the augmented reality presentation also shows the toy from various angles and with extreme details.

The roll out of the Lego Digital Box portal will be to every store worldwide following a very successful test marking in Denmark. So look for it at a Lego store near you in the next few months.
