Toy Whimsy has a cool article about making NERF the center of your next party. With kids running around, teaming up, and lobbing foamy fun at one another, what’s not to love?
The idea is based around the fact that Nerf toys have never been more popular. This may be because Nerf has made a strategic move to add foam dart guns to they’re toy lines. Be it laser guided sniper rifles or Vulcan machine guns firing on full auto until their ammo belts are depleted, or even one that works with Nintendo Wii, the N Strike line has birthday party written all over it.
But there’s also the classic Nerf Football, Nerf Basketball boards, and even Nerf Frisbee style discs (which can also double as moving targets for target shooting).. All designed to get kids outdoors and having fun before they load up on cake and ice cream. But there are a few good tips:
• Setup a target practice area so kids who come empty handed can get used to using the N Strike gun toys on hand. This will give them a chance to even the playing field over the budding little Sergeant Rocks who will lie in ambush.
• Play fun, non violent variants like Capture the Flag, which will focus more on the flag and less on the idea of warfare.
• Make sure there’s adult supervision. Even with foam Nerf darts, there’s bound to be somebody who falls the wrong way or takes one in the head. Having an adult on hand will assure mediation of any conflicts and render assistance should kids get hurt.
• Although some Nerf toys like Nerf Dart Tag come with safety glasses, not all models do. So, encourage safety glasses. They can usually be gotten at local dollar stores and are a good cheap insurance policy against eye injury. But a cheap pair of sunglasses will also help and will look way cooler in a terminator like fashion.
• Make sure all kids bringing their own darts and guns have their initials put on EVERYTHING. That makes it way easier at the end of the day when dividing darts back up. And always figure you’re going to lose a few.
• Make sure all parents of party guests are okay with playing with toy guns. Some have issues with this. If so, then have the option of playing Nerf Sports for those who politely decline.
Nerf toys are great, safe fun for boys (and girls) who just want to be boys. They burn off a ton of energy and really, what kid doesn’t like to play war from time to time?

Thank you for any other great post. Where else could anybody get that kind of information in such an ideal means of writing? I’ve a presentation next week, and I am at the look for such information.
