This CTA Assault Rifle PlayStation 3 controller is sure to make FPS games more realistic.
Well, we’re fully recovered from ComiCon (look for a swag giveaway soon) and am ready to get back on the toy beat. So without further adieu …
Game accessory designers CTA have created the Assault Rifle controller for PS3 which amps up the reality quotient for those obsessed with first person shooters.
The Assault Rifle PlayStation 3 controller works via wireless USB connection and is near real size for an M16A4 battlefield weapon, which is the staple for the US military and many other forces around the world. The ARP3, as we call it, sports every single button found on a traditional PS3 controller. The R1 fire button has been routed to the trigger for realistic fire control, there’s twin joysticks on the stock and barrell for moving forward and steadying the rifle, and there’s even a tiny speaker to let out gunfire sound effects in single shot or three shot bursts for added realism. And the FX even work outside of the game should users want to run around house playing virtual room to room warefare.
Sadly, the plastic rifle sight is just decorative. Heck, if they stuck an LCD screen in there and managed to pick up a wireless video signal, it’d probably be worth another $50 on the sale price. But oh well.
Check out the video with the silly pitchman in cammies:
The ARP3 works with all major fps titles including Modern Warfare 2, and you can bet that after the Sony Move comes out, CTA will update this to work in concert. Cost is $65.
