When I was growing up, slot cars were all the rage. Little tiny cars with powerful electric motors and a pin that shoots down into a channel on the race track which is supplying the power. But they lost favor after the Hot Wheels craze of the 70s with their free-form tracks that could be created into any crazy design. Coupled with rotating wheels powering the cars along or the Sizzler variety. Then came radio controlled cars and slot cars just seemed passe. Then Toy Story 3 came along and slot cars look to make a fun and adventurous comeback from infinity and beyond.

The main creator was Scalextric and they’ve come back with a 1:64 scale Toy Story Edition slot car complete with Buzz and Woody racing along in twin RCs. They roar past pizza planet, Syd’s house, and even stout-hearted green army men that hold up the track’s bridge section. Looks to be a lot of fun.

Available from Amazon for around $60.
