Online video gaming gets religion

In the beginning, there was The Bible Online.

Most online video games, known as MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) often involve sending people to their maker thanks to a well placed rifle round or slash by the cold steel of one’s epic blade, but a new MMORPG is interested more in what happens after characters leave for the great bye and bye … well almost.

According to GearFuse, there’s a new MMORPG based on the Bible. Yep, the word of God made manifest in computer graphics and transmitted online. A combination of Civilization and The Ten Commandments, the Bible online gives players a chance to interact in situations they read about in Sunday School.
Characters will encounter Old Testament plagues of truly biblical proportions like locusts, frogs and burning hail (I’d make sure I’m out of town the weekend of Passover, btw) and the immaculate New Testamant heralding of the coming of the savior in a manger. And if players characters expire, it takes three days for them to return … no kidding!

The Bible is currently preparing for beta testing starting next week here so there’s still time to get in. And top-ranked players will be rewarded with some serious swag including a 3G IPod Touch, Shuffle or cash (30 pieces of silver not included).
