Cars 2 Toys flood Toy Faire

by James

Disney Consumer Products came to toy fair with one thing on their minds … CARS 2. And they brought over 300 toys to prove it. From remote control cars, to race car tracks, to an interactive Lightning McQueen car, there wasn’t a place in the Disney booth that didn’t have a car in it. Here’s a few highlights …

Lightning McQueen Alive ... a lot of fun for such a small toy

Lightning McQueen Alive – this is a surprisingly small 1:55 scale car which takes off at the touch of a button. And not only that, but the car comes to life and starts talking, complete with a moving mouth. The car is powered by three micro motors and can run backwards and forwards turning as he goes. Very cool looking toy. The rechargable internal battery charges “Sizzler style” off the gas station power pack. Check out the video here:

Cost is about $60, rather pricey for what amounts to a complex Hot Wheel, but rather tempting when you see it talk. Due out early October.

Cars 2 1:24 scale RC Cars – These cars bring the characters of Cars 2 to life complete with moving eyes. These are primarily meant for indoor play and operate on a basic RF remote system with simple front/back, left/right command buttons. Characters include Lightning McQueen, Mater and Bernoulli. Due out in May for $24.99 each.

Cars 2 Slot Car sets – Disney goes old school with slot car sets, although the design is rather bare bones. Here’s hoping that they offer Radiator Springs accessory packs to gussy it up a bit.

Zero Gravity Finn McMissile R/C car – Finn McMissile is a new character coming to the Cars universe, he’s a secret agent car, very Connery-esque, operating on Spin Master’s Air Hogs line which enables the car to literally climb walls. Set to release this Spring for around $40.
