With LEGO® CUUSOO, LEGO is using crowd sourcing to give brick fans an opportunity to design new sets that they will create and sell. And the best part is, if they choose your idea, you get a piece of the pie! Here’s how it works …
Brick fans submit their “MOC” (My Own Creation) to the LEGO® CUUSOO site above and if it gets over 10,000 likes, then that triggers a product idea review directly from LEGO. If they like your idea, they’ll create a product kit for it and if it sells, then you get 1% of the net profit. How cool is that?! Now only do you get the thrill of having your idea become an official LEGO product, but you also can make some money off it at the same time.
Check out this video for an idea of the process:
To date, two MOC ideas have been chosen and turned into official LEGO products. We haven’t seen them on the store shelves yet, but being a brand new program, it’s only a matter of time. Now sure, 1% of the NET is pretty paltry. But hey, it’s a start. Heck, in Hollywood, NET profit never happens. But still, if you go into it thinking that you just want to get an idea of yours created, then you’re ahead of the game no matter what!
