LEGO teams up with DC to create stop motion app

So you’ve gotten your kids all these LEGOs and minifigs, don’t you think it’s time they became the next Steven Spielberg? Or at least Nick Park? Well, they can with the new LEGO┬« Super Hero Movie Maker app for the iPhone.

Lego Software has designed a really easy to use interface for the LEGO┬« Super Hero Movie Maker app, that will allow kids to build their Lego scenes and then tell the story. It’s as easy as touching the snap button in the middle of the screen, moving your figures a little, snapping again, moving, snapping again, and continuing to do that until the movie is done.

Kids get the choice 11 great looking title cards with images of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and more. Then, you can go into the editor and trim individual frames (a very cool feature that not even Apple’s own iMovie app can do).The app also provides several different soundtracks with music to add some drama and mood to your stop motion film. And you can also add special filter effects to your shot, as well. Once you’ve done with your film, you can save them to the camera roll on your phone and then shared with friends via email, Facebook and even YouTube.

Lego Super Hero Movie Maker works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad, and 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch.

And the best part is … it’s totally free! Download it from the iTunes App store here.
