LEGO to offer exclusive Shazam MiniFig at SDCC

by James

Last year at ComiCon, my son and I got a sweet pair of DC Heroes minifigs … Batman and Green Lantern. Then, last February, LEGO added Superman to the collectible giveaways at the New York Toy Fair. This year, at ComiCon? SHAZAM! Of course.

Last year, they were pushing the DC LEGO Super Heroes line, and this year, they’re focusing on the Marvel Comics Super Heroes. So it makes sense that they’d feature a popular Marvel character. But I didn’t see it comin’ that they’d go with
SHAZAM, otherwise known as Captain Marvel. He’ll will be enshrined in minifigure form and given away at the annual San Diego pop culture and comic book fan fest, at LEGO’s booth. But here’s the thing. You gotta be persistent as they will likely only be giving away limited quantities and usually by random “lottery.”

You get a ticket the draw it, you get it. And they’ll do it twice a day. But if you’re there for the entire 4 days, that’s 7-8 opportunities to get a minifig that will be highly sought by Marvel and LEGO fans. You’ll have to wait about 45 minutes each time to get your ticket, but it pays off. We did it four times and won three out of the four (two Batmam and one Green Lantern).

It’s confusing, but Capt Marvel is a DC i.p.
