LEGO Announces ComiCon Event Schedule
LEGO is always busy during ComiCon and 2012 is no exception. Here is the list of events and giveaways at the LEGO booth at the San Diego Convention Center …
Each day with have a special LEGO them featuring the current set of licensed LEGO products. Tomorrow (Thursday), for instance, is LORD OF THE RINGS (LOTR) day, Friday will focus on LEGO Super Heroes, Saturday is Star Wars Day, and Sunday will close out the annual pop culture comic and toy festival with Ninjago.
And LEGO will be raffling off special minifigures from each theme, so you get a chance to win one 5-inch buildable figure in a special miniland/diorama playset. Thursday is Bilbo Baggins; Friday will feature both Batman for DC and Spider-Man for Marvel (that kills the Captain Marvel/Shazam rumor); Saturday is Luke Skywalker; and Sunday will be a green ninja. Now here’s the downside. There’s only one winning prize for each day. Not like last year when they gave away about 50 minifigures by lottery. Those glory days are over.
But fear not. LEGO is also having a Con wide scavenger hunt for collectible minifigs. On Thursday, you pick up one piece of the Bilbo Baggins minifigure and a map of the convention floor. Then you cruise around the CON using the map to locate find LEGO partners and the other pieces until your Bilbo minfigure is complete. And it’s yours to keep.
The remaining schedule includes new Super Hero Minfigs for both Marvel and DC on Friday, with a 3D mosaic featuring Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman. There will also be a life-sized statue of the Hulk in LEGO form. In fact, every day LEGO Fans will be invited to create a section of the 7.5 feet tall mosaics of Comic Con favorites every day.
Star Wars Saturday will feature the unveiling of the new LEGO Star Wars Rancor Pit set (for sale, we’re certain). And finally, Sunday, brings a special Ninjago announcement which will happen as the Con winds down (about 2:00pm).
