OggBoard Could Bring Card Games To Life
About a year ago, I wrote post about OggBoard, a cool game that leveraged both augmented reality and smart devices like tablets to create an amazing board game platform that could make family game night fun again. Now OggBoard is back and they’ve got their sites set on strategy card games … and it’s even MORE exciting!
Imagine how cool it would be if you could see your favorite characters battle it out on your kitchen table? – OggBoard Mini Pitch Video
When my son was in single digits, he loved the Saturday Morning animated series “YuGiOh.” And while I knew it was just a thirty minute commercial to sell the card game, it was really well written, and I couldn’t stop but thinking how soon it would be before the technology in the TV series that caused hologram versions of the monster cards to come to life, would actually happen in in reality as well. And then someone invented augmented reality and it knew it was only a matter of time. And OggBoard does it. Check out their Kickstarter video:
I really wish I had learned about this sooner, because sadly, the Kickstarter campaign for the OggBoard Mini wasn’t successful. But you can bet that if Seto Kaiba would’ve been a real gaming mogul, he would’ve bought into it. And I’m hoping that the guys will try again to get more traction and hopefully, game makers like Konami or even Hasbro will see the possibilities and bring it to the public. Because dammit, we want to play YuGiOh the way it was MEANT to be played!
