Cool Hobbit Toys Ready for the Holidays
“Somehow the killing of this giant spider, all alone by himself in the dark . . . made a great difference to Mr. Baggins. He felt a different person, and much fiercer and bolder in spite of an empty stomach, as he wiped his sword on the grass and put it back into its sheath. ‘I will give you a name,’ he said to it, ‘and I shall call you Sting.’ ” – The Hobbit, JRR Tolkein
Hobbit toys are coming in time for the holidays (and the release of the first chapter of the epic JRR Tolkein novel and Peter Jackson Saga) and they’re looking way cool, including Sting, Bilbo Baggin’s elvin sword of choice.
If you’ve read the Hobbit, you know that Sting glows whenever there’s an orc around, preparing the wielder for an inevitable attack. But Bilbo used it for many purposes during the movie and the toy glows just like it. 18″ long, with Motion-activated battle sounds and a glowing blue light. $24.99
Then there’s what every dwarf can’t live without, especially if you’re Gimli, son of Gloin … a dwarven battle axe. 15″ long, made of fine milled dwarven steel (also known as EVA foam and molded plastic). $19.99.
Both are for ages 3 and up (yeah, like I’m giving that to a three years old) and you can get them at ThinkGeek.
