Dragon Roller Coaster kit

Almost. But hey, how many of us grew up with such classic toys as erector sets and other grand construction models to while away our summer days when we should be outside playing baseball. But hey, even budding engineers have to play, don’t they? Well, if your kid has the penchant for the great white knuckler, why not pick him up this scale model of the Dragon roller coaster by Coaster Dynamix.

the dude

It was a small, cult favorite and considering The Big Lebowski wasn’t an epic, it has a huge following. So, it only makes sense that when Entertainment Earth created a limited Edition “The Dude” action figure for ComiCon, it was bound to catch our eye.

SW toy collection

Toys are for playing, but these ten toys are so highly sought by collectors that even considering taking them out of their original packaging is considered a crime against humanity:

1.

Darth Vader with double telescoping light saber

- It looks like a normal dark lord of the Sith, except that Vader’s light saber actually retracts in a typical telescoping fashion. The idea probably looked great on paper, but the manufacturing and cost issues probably destined this to a very short life on the production line. There’s only three known to exist along with an equal amount of Obi Wan Kinobi’s and about 15 Luke Skywalkers. Value of Vader’s double telescoping saber version? Nearly $10,000 US. Luke’s is about half that.

2.

    Vlix

Only released in Brazil, this obscure Star Wars character action figure is based on the short lived cartoon series Droids. Only a handful exist unopened and they’re worth about $6,000 each. FOR AN ACTION FIGURE!

3.

Millenium Falcon 23” version by Kenner

. Designed as a set companion to the 3 ¾” action figures, this Correllian Smuggler ship came with swiveling laser canon, retractable landing gear and a smuggler’s compartments. It even has the infamous Sabacc gaming table built in. If you have one in mint condition, you can expect to fetch about $4,000 for it.

4.

    X-Wing Fighter, Lego

. The original was released in 1999. This 500 piece set came with a Degobah set for Luke’s Jedi training with Master Yoda, who’s home is also included along with figures of him, Luke and R2D2. Expect to fetch about $250 US for it as it isn’t available here in the States.

5.

    Interactive R2D2 Droid by Hasbro

. Unfortunately, it isn’t life size, but this voice controlled Astromech droid has plenty of attitude. It can dance, play hide and seek, emit a security alarm and obey up to 40 voice activated commands. Still available for about $200 US.

New Clone Wars Lego minifigs coming …

Clone Wars minifigs

“For nearly half a decade, the Clone Wars rocked the galaxy and led to the downfall of the Old Republic and the Jedi Order.”

Adding to the drammatis pesonnae of the Star Wars Lego world comes a spate of minifigs from Star Wars Clone Wars that ties in both the upcoming animated movie but also the TV series it launches.

The new minifigs include:

    GENRAL OBI-WAN KENOBI

The Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, ready for battle in his clone trooper armor

    ASAJJ VENTRESS

A dark side disciple and follower of Count Dooku

    CAPTAIN REX

an ARC Trooper with attitude, this character will play a significant role in the Clone Wars

    MAGNA DROID

an advanced type of battle droid formidable enough to take on Jedi and clone troopers with ease

    COMMANDER CODY

a highly trained and experienced trooper, this veteran of more than a dozen major battles commands the Republic’s elite forces;

    PLO KOON

after serving on the Jedi Council, this Master went on to serve the Republic on countless worlds after surviving the Battle of Geonosis (and being eventually killed by his own troops)

    AHSOKA TANO

This young female is Anakin Skywalker’s padawan and a new force to be reckoned with. (Anakin had an apprentice?) and

    ANAKIN SKYWALKER

this headstrong and powerful force-warrior is equally fearless in his Jedi starfighters as he is on the ground leading clone troopers.

The minifigs are meant to convey Lego’s interpretation of the new CGI Clone Wars series and will no doubt be released in concert with the film (or at least in time for Christmas).
