If you got a toy you already have or simply want to return your Christmas gifts for something else, it pays to familiarize yourself with the return policies of the stores from which your gift came from.
Toys R Us, for example, offers a 90 day return window on gifts, with the exception of a 45-day limit on videogames, DVD, electronics and other related items. And all items must be in original packaging – unopened and sealed. A gift receipt always helps.
Walmart, also has a 90 day window for returns, but when it comes to electronics bought between Nov 15 and Dec 25 – they must be returned by no later than Jan 10.
Target has a 90 day window as well, but if you’re returning electronics or digital cameras, you may be subject to a 15% restocking fee and if you’ve returned over $70 worth of merchandise within the calendar year, they reserve the right to refuse your return without a receipt.
Other store’s return policies can be found here.
