If youre one of the frustrated many who were unable to get a badge to this years ComiCon geek fest, theres no time like the present to secure your badge for NEXT year! Thats right, even though ComiCon 2011 wont begin until this coming Wednesday, online pre-registration is now open for 2012.
The advantage to online pre-registration, is that you wont have to wait in line to get your tickets at the Con (which most cant since its already sold out). And usually, next year sells out before the Con is over. Pre-register onsite for all four days, and you won’t have to worry about getting your badges before they sell out.
Heres the break down of pricing:
A four-day adult badge with Preview Night is $175; without Preview Night the price is $150. Four-day Junior (ages 12–17) and Senior (60 and older) badges are $87 with Preview Night and $75 without Preview Night. Active military with ID receive the Junior/Senior price (this reduced price does not extend to dependents). Single-day badges (Thursday–Saturday) are $40 for adults, and $20 for Juniors, Seniors, and Military. Sunday-only badges are $23 for adults, and $11 for Juniors, Seniors, and Military.

With a week to go for ComiCon, I simply don’t have time to make a Captain America shield from that extra DirecTV satellite dish I have sitting on the porch. I’d prefer it, because the technique produces a very realistic model. But then again, Cody complaining because he’ll be lugging steel all over the San Diego Convention Center and bumping into a sea of humanity makes me want to look elsewhere. Thankfully, I found this cool Instructable (with video) on how to make a very realistic shield out of cardboard and duct tape. Sweet!

For the Whovians out there coming to the San Diego ComiCon this year, you’re already excited that there’s a panel with 11th Doctor Matt Smitt and his ginger companion Karen Gillan, and the TARDIS which will be available for photo ops on the showroom floor. But what you may not know is that BBC America is having a scavenger hunt with QR Codes for some cool Doctor Who merchandise.
